Carlão is the stage name of Carlos Eduardo Morais, a Portuguese rock musician who started his solo career in 1991 with the album 'SOS.' He was born in Lisbon in 1965 and played in bands like Os Dias de Raiva and Santamaria before going solo.
His 2006 album 'Assobia Para o Lado' gave him his biggest hit with the title track, a ballad about lost love that became something of an anthem. Other songs like 'Os Tais' and 'Viver Pra Sempre' also show up in his setlists.
He's been outspoken about political and social issues, which has sometimes drawn criticism. In 2010, his song 'Fizeste-me Crer' led to a legal dispute with the Angolan government, who found it offensive. He's released albums steadily since the 1990s, including 'Utopia' in 2013 and 'O Meu País' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
