Carlinhos Oliveira and André formed a Brazilian duo in the early 1980s, with Oliveira on guitar and vocals and André on percussion. Their debut album came out in 1986, and they followed it with records like 'O Som da Gente' in 1989 and 'Para Todas as Horas' in 1994.
Their best-known song is 'A Lua Em Sentinela,' which appeared on that first album. Other tracks like 'Gente De Fibra' and 'Sangue Da Traição' also show up in their catalog. They played live often, and their sound mixed traditional Brazilian rhythms with more contemporary touches.
Some people in the industry were skeptical about their approach at first, but they kept working. The duo was just the two of them, Oliveira and André, without other permanent members. They recorded a live album in 1991 called 'Ao Vivo.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
