Carlito Baduy and Taquinho (born Luiz Carlos da Silva Pinto) met in Rio de Janeiro in the mid-1970s. Baduy played guitar and sang, drawing from classic samba figures like Ismael Silva and Nelson Cavaquinho, while Taquinho brought in touches of bossa nova and jazz.
Their debut album in 1977 featured the title track "Nos Braços da Morena," which became a national hit. The song's melody and guitar work helped establish them, though some traditional samba listeners questioned their modern influences during the 1980s.
They kept recording through that period, with songs like "Bandida," "Quem Ama," and "Vou Voltar Pra Goiás" appearing in their catalog.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
