Carlos Cassim started making music in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s, around the time Brazil was under military rule. Some of his lyrics got him in trouble with government censors during that period. He kept writing anyway.
In 1974 he put out an album called "Tô Querendo Te Ver." The title track became a hit and helped more people hear his music.
He recorded albums like "Amém" in 1978 and "De Brasileiro Pra Brasileiro" in 1987. The songs he wrote often touched on what was happening in Brazil at the time.
