Carlos Madruga was a Brazilian singer and guitarist from Botucatu, São Paulo. He taught himself to play and began recording in the mid-1970s, working with producer João Donato. Their collaboration yielded 'Saudade Do Meu Cavalo,' a ballad that became his best-known song.
His music often dealt with themes of longing and absence, as heard in tracks like 'Canto de Ausência' and 'Amargo, Trança E Saudade.' He recorded several albums through the 1970s and 1980s, including 'Vida de Carroceiro' in 1980.
Madruga worked with musicians including bassist Zé Roberto and drummer Dui Nogueira. His songs, with their melancholic feel, found a lasting place in Brazilian music.
