The band Carlos Menem formed in the late 1990s around the former Argentine president of the same name. Their song 'Menem Lo Hizo' borrowed its title from his political slogan and became their most recognizable track. The group released an album in 1998 that mixed rock, pop, and Latin rhythms.
That album's title track drew attention for its lyrics praising Menem's presidential achievements, which some critics saw as self-promotional. The band faced resistance from parts of the Argentine rock scene who viewed them as political outsiders. Their lineup included Menem on guitar and vocals, with Sergio Camero on bass, Guillermo Capello on drums, Luis Carmona on keyboards, and Leonardo de Lozanne also handling vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
