Carlos Tecladista, born Carlos Alberto Gomes, started playing keyboards in local bands in São Paulo. He formed his own group in 1988, and their 1990 single 'Ta Chorando Porque' became a national hit in Brazil. The song's success was complicated by accusations that its chorus resembled an older folk melody, though it remained popular regardless.
His band released albums regularly through the 1990s and 2000s, with songs like 'Ele Me Abriu a Porta' and 'Nada Me Separa' showing their range from romantic ballads to more upbeat material. The group's lineup included guitarist Adair Cardoso and bassist Marco Túlio during those years.
Beyond music, Carlos appeared in some telenovelas and films. In 2005, he faced domestic violence charges that he denied, an incident that affected his public standing for a time. He continued recording afterward, putting out albums like 'Acústico' in 2010 and 'Só Pra Você' in 2019.
