Carlton Pearson grew up singing in church in Pontotoc, Mississippi. In the early 1980s, he released his first album and began building a following with songs like 'Jesus I Will Never Forget/ He's Done So Much For Me' and 'We Declare Your Glory.' His music mixed gospel with soul and funk, and he recorded albums like 'Unbelievable' and 'Power.'
In 1994, Pearson gave a sermon called 'The Gospel of Inclusion' that argued for broader acceptance within religious communities. This led to his dismissal from his church. He later started his own ministry, Higher Dimensions Family Church, where he continued preaching.
His recordings, including 'Live at the Gospel Superfest,' kept his music in circulation. Songs such as 'We've Come This Far' and 'All The Way' remained part of his set lists and choir rotations. Pearson's work drew listeners who responded to both his vocal delivery and his theological perspective.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
