A Porto Alegre singer whose melodic songs from the late '80s onward hold up without trying too hard.
For a good sense of her sound, try 'Eu Vou Te Esquecer' from 1988 or 'Contanto Que Eu Possa Te Ter.' They're both typical of what she does well.
Her debut single 'Eu Vou Te Esquecer' came out in 1988 and did well enough to define her early career. That song, along with others like 'Contanto Que Eu Possa Te Ter' and 'Perfeita,' gave her a foothold in Brazilian pop. The songs have a straightforward, melodic quality that still works because they're not trying to be anything other than solid pop tunes.
She came up in Porto Alegre and put out albums like 'Pra Valer' in 1990, 'Essência' in 1992, and 'Alma' in 2005. Her band at different points included drummer Betinho, bassist Paulão, and guitarist Zé Otávio, and she worked with guitarist Luiz Meirelles on some recordings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
