Carolina Deslandes grew up in Lisbon with music around her, her father Rodrigo was a musician. She first got attention in 2010 as a contestant on the Portuguese talent show Ídolos, where she placed second. That led to her self-titled debut album in 2012.
Her 2018 song 'Nuvem' became something of a signature piece, with its spare arrangement and lyrics about love's fragility. It did well on Portuguese charts. Other songs like 'A Vida Toda' and 'Paz' show her leaning toward pop and folk with straightforward, personal writing.
She's put out a few albums since that debut, including Blossom in 2014, Casa in 2018, and Sempre Mais in 2021. The work tends to circle around relationships and self-reflection, delivered in a clear, unhurried vocal style that doesn't overcomplicate things.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
