Editor's note

Carolina Liar's direct, melodic rock from Stockholm

A Swedish-American band built around singer Chad Wolf, known for straightforward songs like 'Show me what I'm looking for.'

For a sense of their sound, try 'Show me what I'm looking for' or 'Done Stealin'.' They're both pretty typical of that direct, melodic rock feel.

Carolina Liar's music has a plainspoken quality that sticks. 'Show me what I'm looking for' is a good example, it's just a clean, melodic rock song that doesn't overcomplicate things. They kept that approach across three albums, even through lineup changes and a legal issue over a sample in 'I'm Not Over.'

The band formed in Stockholm in 2005 with Chad Wolf as the singer. Their debut 'Coming First' came out in 2008, followed by 'Wild Blessed Freedom' in 2011 and 'Glass House' in 2014. Drummer Clemens Rehbein left in 2010, but Wolf remained the constant voice through those records.

Rehbein left the band in 2010, and Max Jury played drums for the later albums. Their songs like 'Show me what I'm looking for' and 'Done Stealin'' have a straightforward rock feel with some soul touches. The music doesn't try to be complicated, just direct and melodic.

They had some legal trouble over a sample in 'I'm Not Over,' but kept making records. The lineup changed a bit, but Wolf remained the constant voice through those three albums.
