Archive material and source history

CarpetGarden formed in Asheville, North Carolina in 2014, with Tristan King on vocals and guitar, Cole McAdams on bass, and Jonathan Kindred on drums. They self-released their debut EP 'Conversations with a Ghost' the following year, working with a DIY approach that felt natural for a band starting out in a smaller town.

Their 2016 EP 'The Party' included the song 'Can I Have a Ride Home? I'm At a Party And I Don't Know Anyone,' which connected with listeners through its straightforward lyrics about social awkwardness. That track, along with others like 'I Think Ur Rlly Cool' and 'Yr The Best!,' gave their music a conversational quality that felt more like talking to a friend than performing for an audience.

In 2018, drummer Jonathan Kindred left the band and was replaced by James Ryan. They released the album 'Sunlit Hours' that same year, followed by the EP 'Lost in Translation' in 2020 and another album, 'Tomorrow's Echoes,' in 2022. Their songs often explore everyday situations with a light touch, keeping the arrangements simple enough to let the lyrics come through clearly.
