Carranca formed in Belo Horizonte in 1989, led by singer-songwriter Samuel Rosa. Their sound drew from Amazonian rhythms and folklore, mixed with rock and pop elements. They released their self-titled debut album in 1991.
In 1996, the band's album 'Cabocla Janaína' brought them wider attention. The title track became one of their best-known songs. Other tracks like 'A Marcha' and 'Alma de Viajante' also appeared in their catalog.
The group's lineup included Samuel Rosa on vocals and guitar, Tancredo Neves on bass, Milton Guedes on drums, Laudir de Oliveira on guitar, and Humberto Araújo on keyboards. They continued recording into the 2000s with albums like 'O Baile das Bruxas' in 2000 and 'Nó Na Orelha' in 2009.
