Casa de Marimbondo was a Brazilian musical collective that came together during the Tropicalismo movement of the late 1960s. Their name translates to "House of the Wasp," which fit their sharp, buzzing energy. The group included Rogério Duarte on vocals and percussion, Lô Borges on guitar, and poets Ronaldo Bastos and Fernando Brant writing lyrics.
Their song "Odeon" from 1968 became something of an anthem for the movement. With lyrics by Bastos and Brant that painted a surreal cityscape, and an experimental mix of Brazilian rhythms and rock instrumentation, it caught attention.
They released just three albums between 1968 and 1970 before disbanding. Members went on to separate careers, Duarte as a solo artist, Borges and Brant in Brazilian folk-rock. The group reunited briefly in the 1990s for some performances and a compilation.
