Casi Creativo formed in Bogotá around 2009 with José Torres on vocals, Daniel Roa on guitar, Juan Carlos Rivas on bass, and Nicolás Moreno on drums. They started playing local bars and street performances before their 2011 single '8 Vasos Al Día' caught on nationally.
In 2013, the band faced plagiarism accusations over their song 'Te Quiero Ver,' which they addressed with a public apology. Their music incorporated pop, rock, and Colombian folk elements, with songs like 'Cilantro' and 'Adicto Al Azúcar' showing their range.
They never became a household name outside Colombia, but they built a steady following with their mix of catchy melodies and grounded lyrics. Their catalog includes straightforward songs about ordinary life, like 'Gratis' and 'Tipos de Despedidas,' that avoided grand statements in favor of small, specific observations.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
