Cassandra Steen grew up in Stuttgart, Germany, and first gained attention in 2003 when she won the television show "Popstars." That led to her time in the girl group Monrose, which had hits like "Shame" and "Hot Summer." After leaving the group, she started recording on her own.
Her solo debut album "Seele" came out in 2009, with the single "Stadt" reaching the top of the charts. She has since released other albums including "Mir so nah" in 2011 and "Luna" in 2019. Songs like "Alles was Du willst Pt. 2" and "Darum leben wir" show her working in German pop with soul touches.
Steen has been open about dealing with body image issues and eating disorders. She sometimes performs with a band that includes guitarist Sascha Wahl and drummer Felix Dehmel, among others.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
