Cassete Pirata

Cassete Pirata formed in São Paulo around 2006, with Adriano Cintra, Bruno Barros, Evandro Mesquita, and Renato Pécora among the early members. They put out their first album, "Nação Zumbi," in 2008, mixing samba with rock and hip-hop. The band's sound drew some attention, though their lyrics and performances sometimes stirred things up.

A couple years later, in 2010, they released the album "Só Mais Uma Hora." The title track became a hit, connecting with listeners in the city. The group's lineup shifted over time, adding players like Thiago França and Rodrigo Campos. They also worked with other Brazilian artists, including Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso.

Cassete Pirata kept making music that blended styles, though not everyone warmed to their experiments. They faced some pushback and legal questions along the way, but kept at it.
