Cattolica formed in Brazil with Thiago Brado on vocals and Felipe Rodarte on guitar. Their music drew from the religious background they grew up with, mixing gospel elements with more contemporary sounds. Their 2005 debut album included the track "Cura Senhor," which became widely known.
Some listeners connected with the band's straightforward approach to faith in songs like "Ensina-me a amar," while others questioned their motives or found their lyrics too pointed. The group maintained that their work came from genuine belief.
Keyboardist Bruno Martins and bassist André Lourenço left in 2010, replaced by Daniel Santos and Vitor Rodrigues. The band kept recording and performing through these changes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
