Catuaba com Amendoim formed in 1987 with members Luiz Caldas, Dito, Tomate, Jonga Cunha, and Bebeto. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year and included the song "Parabéns, Meu Amor," which became a national hit in Brazil.
Their music mixed Brazilian rhythms with rock and funk, which some listeners found unconventional. They also wrote about romance and social themes, which drew both attention and criticism. Other songs in their catalog include "A Saga de Um Vaqueiro" and "Há, Há, Há."
They released four studio albums in total. Beyond "Parabéns, Meu Amor," tracks like "Conselho ao Filho Adulto" and "Velho Cuca" round out their recorded work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
