Editor's note

Cavaleiros do Forró, a Brazilian forró band

A long-running group that helped bring northeastern forró music to a wider audience.

For a taste of their style, check out 'Nós Somos Loucos' or 'Mar de Doçura', they capture that mix of tradition and pop energy pretty well.

They formed in 1992 in Campina Grande, a city known for forró, and their first album 'Um Novo Forró' in 1993 got them national attention. Songs like 'Nós Somos Loucos' and 'Mar de Doçura' blend traditional forró with pop touches, keeping the sound fresh. With over fifteen studio albums, they've been a steady presence in the genre for decades.

The original lineup had vocalist Paulinho, who left in 2001, and Xand Avião took over as vocalist. They've released albums like 'Não Fico Sem Você' in 2005 and 'Vem Pro Meu Mundo' in 2011, showing their evolution from that early '90s start.

The original lineup had vocalist Paulinho, accordionist Beto Cachoeira, bassist Dodo, and guitarist Marquinhos Costa. Their first album, 'Um Novo Forró,' came out in 1993 and helped them gain attention nationally.

Paulinho left in 2001 to work on solo material, and Xand Avião took over as vocalist. The group has put out more than fifteen studio albums over time, including 'Não Fico Sem Você' from 2005 and 'Vem Pro Meu Mundo' from 2011. Songs like 'Mar de Doçura' and 'Kika Na Latinha' show their mix of traditional forró with pop elements.
