C.D.E formed in 1984 as a trio with Claudio Zoli on vocals and guitar, Daniel Carlomagno on bass, and Eduardo Biagioli on drums. They started playing local bars and clubs, then released their debut album 'Setevidas' in 1988. That record had 'Passado,' which became one of their best-known songs.
Their music mixed samba, pop, and rock. They kept recording through the 1990s and 2000s, putting out albums like 'Horizonte Vertical' in 1990, 'Pedras e Flores' in 1993, and 'Dois Mundos' in 1998. Another track people remember is 'We're Invincible.'
Zoli had some trouble with drug addiction around 1990, which led to a short break. The band also wrote lyrics that touched on social and political issues, which drew some criticism but connected with fans who appreciated that directness. They recorded an acoustic session for MTV in 1995 and kept working into the 2000s with albums like 'Alma Brasileira' in 2005.
