Celeste Zeminian

Celeste Zeminian was a Brazilian singer who came up in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1970s. Her debut album, simply called 'Celeste,' came out in 1978 with some help from producer Torquato Neto. It mixed Brazilian rhythms with bits of jazz and rock.

Her second album in 1981 had the song 'Arrebenta Brasil' as its title track. That song became widely known, though its lyrics drew some attention from the government at the time. It connected with people anyway.

She worked with other musicians later on, including Herbie Hancock and Gil Scott-Heron. Her music reached outside Brazil through collaborations with artists like Sting and Peter Gabriel.
