Celso Lira was born in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil in 1955. He formed his first band, Os Farristas, as a teenager and started playing local events around the city.
His career shifted in 1983 with the release of his debut album 'Lua Formosa.' The title track became a national hit and established him in the forró scene. He went on to record songs like 'A Seta e o Alvo' and 'Canto Para Maria' through the 1980s and 1990s.
Lira's music works with traditional forró rhythms and the sound of the accordion. His band has included musicians like Zé Américo on accordion, Ciço de Castro on zabumba, and Beto Azevêdo on triangle.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
