Ceremonya formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 around singer Marina Sena, bassist Bruno Iorio, drummer Luís Felipe Oliveira, and guitarist João Brasil. Their name hints at the ritual feel of their performances, which draw from Afro-Brazilian rhythms and ethereal vocal melodies. They released their debut album 'Na Língua dos Anjos' in 2019, with the title track becoming a viral hit that mixed Afro-pop and soul textures.

After that breakthrough, they put out albums like 'Ilê' in 2020 and 'Do Sol' in 2022.
