Cerezo

Cerezo is a Peruvian band that blends traditional Andean music with contemporary electronic elements. The group formed around 2012 when singer Tomasa "Tomasita" Quispe began collaborating with guitarist and producer Christian Palacios, later adding drummer Alexis Puentes and bassist Alejandro Quispe. Their debut album 'Guatapará' came out in 2016, named after the song that became one of their most recognizable tracks.

Tomasita Quispe grew up in the Peruvian village of Llica, where she was influenced by the music of her grandmother and local Andean traditions. Her voice and charango playing became central to Cerezo's sound, which mixes those roots with modern production. Songs like 'Desconcerto (part. Beto Nobre)' and 'Vaso Ruim Não Quebra' show how they work within that hybrid space.

The band's approach has drawn both appreciation and criticism from listeners who debate how traditional Andean music should evolve. They've continued releasing albums, including 'Yawar Fiesta' in 2018 and 'Inti Raymi' in 2021, while maintaining their core lineup. Their music often circulates at festivals and through online platforms rather than through major commercial channels.
