Cerrado Novo started in Brasília in 2007, put together by André Mendes and Alexandre Almeida. They worked with traditional Brazilian folk rhythms like xote and baião, mixing them with bits of electronica and jazz. Their first album, Feito de Nós Dois, came out in 2009 and got them some attention outside Brazil.
That album's title track, Feito de Nós Dois, became a song people knew them for. They put out two more records after that, one in 2012 and another in 2016, but the details on those are thin. The band kept a lineup with Mendes on guitar and vocals, Almeida on bass and vocals, and Bruno Santos on drums.
