Chanson Plus Bifluorée

Chanson Plus Bifluorée was a French musical collective that formed in Paris in the late 1970s. Their work blended chanson with jazz and experimental elements, often featuring provocative lyrics that touched on social and political themes. The group included Jean-Louis Murat on vocals and lyrics, Jean-Luc Ponty on violin, Michel Portal on clarinet and saxophone, and Henri Texier on bass.

Their 1982 debut album "Aimé" contained the title track that became something of a cult favorite. Other songs like "AU BILBOQUET DES PLANÈTES" and "Chômage au fond de la vallée" reflected their interest in both cosmic imagery and social commentary. Their performances sometimes drew protests and official attention due to the confrontational nature of their material.

While their recorded output was relatively limited, their approach to blending poetic French songwriting with free jazz improvisation created a distinctive sound. The combination of Murat's lyrics with the instrumental work of Ponty, Portal, and Texier gave their music both literary weight and musical complexity.
