Charles Costa and Ricardo Lima started playing together in Mindelo, Cape Verde in the late 1980s. They became known for mixing traditional Cape Verdean rhythms with more contemporary sounds.
The title translates to "A Holiday on the Beach," but the song tells a darker story of abuse and death.
They kept recording through the 1990s and early 2000s, putting out albums like "Contra Son" in 1995 and "Na Ribeira" in 2003. Other songs in their catalog include "Agora Doeu" and "Caso de Balada."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
