Charly La Sds

Charly y La SDS formed in Mexico City around 2016, with Carlos Hernández taking the name Charly. They started as a trio with drummer Ricardo Rabago and guitarist George Contreras. Their debut single 'Mariana' caught attention with its moody melody and Hernández's distinctive vocals, though the lyrics about a lost love remained deliberately vague.

That song became their calling card, along with 'Tu Primera Cancion' from around the same period. The band's sound mixed electronic touches with alternative rock, but it was the combination of melody and mystery that drew listeners. Some critics found their approach too sentimental, while others questioned how much of the persona was real.

In 2018, media outlets revealed Hernández's full name, which had been part of the band's mystique. The attention didn't change their direction much. They kept writing the kind of introspective songs that had connected with their audience from the beginning.
