Cheap Suits formed in Los Angeles in 2015, with Will Anderson on vocals and guitar, Matt Maginn on guitar, Patrick Hayes on bass, and Michael Aquino on drums. They started playing in East Hollywood's smaller venues, working on songs that would later appear on their early releases. Their debut EP, 'Volume I,' came out in 2018 and included the track '#1 Fan,' which became a standout for its straightforward take on unrequited love.
They followed up with 'Volume II' in 2019 and their first full-length album, 'In the Name of Fame,' in 2021. That album had some production work from John Shanks and Benny Blanco. Songs like 'Another Song About Girls' and 'In Love With the Lead Singer' kept to their style of melodic indie rock with direct lyrics.
They've maintained a steady output since forming, building a listener base around songs that don't overcomplicate things. Their music tends to stick to familiar ground, relationships, small dramas, the occasional catchy chorus, without pretending to reinvent anything.
