Check Up formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1978 with Marcelo Nova on vocals, Tavinho Paes on guitar, Fausto Fawcett on bass, and Robson Jorge on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1982, which included the song 'A Moeda e Seus Dois Lados.'
That track became their most recognizable work, a straightforward rock song with lyrics that examined everyday choices. Other songs like 'Noite estranha' and 'Olho no olho' appeared on their early records.
Marcelo Nova's public comments sometimes drew attention beyond the music. The band kept playing through the 1980s, working within Brazil's rock scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
