Cherry Baby formed in the early 2000s with Theresa Wayman on vocals and guitar, Matt Chamberlain on drums, James Iha on guitar, and P.J. Harvey on bass. Their debut album 'Love and Desire' came out in 2003, anchored by the track 'Ask Yourself' which got some attention in alternative rock circles at the time.
After that first album, Iha and Harvey left the band. Wayman and Chamberlain kept going with new members, putting out 'The Silent Stone' in 2008 and 'The Art of Falling' in 2014. They had some trouble with plagiarism accusations along the way, which they denied.
Their songs like 'Faith In Life' and 'Free To Fly' have a straightforward rock feel with Wayman's vocals up front. The writing tends toward personal reflection without much studio polish.
