Cherry Navarro formed in Buenos Aires in the early 2000s when childhood friends Mariela "Cherry" Perez and Pablo Navarro started playing with guitarist Javier Zuker. They built a local following with a mix of pop, rock, and Latin rhythms.
Their 2005 debut album "Aleluya" gave them a breakout hit with the title track. The song's hopeful lyrics and memorable melody connected with listeners beyond Argentina.
In 2011, a former band member accused the group of plagiarizing the song "Para Que." Cherry Navarro denied the claim, but the dispute lingered. They've continued releasing albums like "Tiempo Real" and "Pecados Capitales," with a lineup that includes drummer Martín Cartagena alongside the original trio.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
