Chico Anysio was born Francisco Anysio de Oliveira Paulo Filho in Maranguape, Ceará, in 1931. He started performing in local festivals and radio shows early on, drawing from the forró and samba rhythms he grew up with. In the 1960s, he gained national attention through his radio program 'Chico Anysio Show,' where he wrote and performed satirical songs that often commented on Brazilian society.
His most famous song, 'A Vaca,' became widely popular for its humor and catchy melody. He also recorded tracks like 'Gata de Amarelo' and 'Tereza da Praia.' Anysio worked with musicians including João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil, and released albums such as 'A Vaca e o Boi' in 1966 and 'O Chico' in 1969.
He continued performing and recording into the 1970s with albums like 'Chico Anysio' in 1973. Chico Anysio died in 2012 at age 80.
