Chico Carvalho came from Maringá, Paraná, and started playing guitar and singing in local bars and festivals. His first album, simply titled "Chico Carvalho," came out in 1983 and got him some national attention.
His song "Neidinha" became his biggest hit, a staple on Brazilian radio that people still know. He released several albums after that, including "Neidinha" in 1985, "O Último Tango" in 1987, and "O Som do Meu Lugar" in 2001.
In 1986, there was a plagiarism lawsuit about "Neidinha" that caused some trouble, but he was eventually cleared. He worked with musicians like Edinho Gomes on bass, Fred Nascimento on drums, and Luiz Antonio on keyboards.
