His debut album came out in 1968 and included 'Pixixita,' a ballad that became widely known in Brazil. The song has been covered by Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, and Caetano Veloso.
Assis's career had some interruptions. He spent time in Europe during the 1970s before returning to Brazil in the 1980s and releasing more music, including the album 'Outra Vez' in 1985.
