In the 1950s, he joined the samba group Império Serrano. His solo work began in the 1960s, and he recorded songs like "Dom de Deus," "Pertinho Dela," and "Vou Falar No Nome Dela." He sometimes played with musicians like Walter Alfaiate on guitar and Zé do Norte on bass.
Chico was known for being outspoken, and his views could stir things up. He put out albums such as "Os Primeiros Sucessos" in 1957 and "O Rei do Pandeiro" a decade later.
