Chilly Gonzales

Chilly Gonzales is the stage name of Jason Beck, a pianist who started with classical training but moved toward more experimental territory. In the late '90s, he was part of the German hip-hop group Puppetmastaz, mixing piano with beats. His solo work began with the 2000 album "Solo Piano," which highlighted his playing in a stripped-down setting. Later records like "Presidential Suite" and "Ivory Tower" continued that exploration.

He's known for theatrical performances and conceptual projects, like a 24-hour piano marathon in Berlin. The track "You Can Dance" became a recognizable piece, with its upbeat rhythm and playful tone finding use beyond just albums. Gonzales often works with other artists, including Feist and Jarvis Cocker, but operates primarily as a solo performer.
