Chimo Bayo

Chimo Bayo is a Spanish DJ and producer who came up in Valencia in the early 1990s. His track "Así Me Gusta a Mí" from 1991 became an anthem on dance floors, with its driving bassline and vocal hook catching the energy of that moment in electronic music.

He followed that with other singles like "La Tía Enriqueta" and albums including "Extasis" and "Acuarela" in the early to mid-90s. His sound pulled from house and the kind of big-room energy that was taking hold in Europe at the time.

In 1993, Bayo faced legal trouble over drug possession and spent some time in jail. He kept working after that, putting out records like "Bombas y Platillos" in 1995 and "El Sonido de la Noche" toward the end of the decade. He's known for a direct, floor-focused approach that doesn't overcomplicate things.
