Chimpanzés de Gaveta

Chimpanzés de Gaveta came out of Madrid in the mid-1980s with a sound that mixed punk rock and cabaret. Their first album, 'El Circo de la Felicidad,' arrived in 1986, followed by 'El Desfile de los Imbéciles' two years later. The band included Miguel López on vocals and guitar, Javier Soto on drums, José Miguel Tena on bass, and Manuel Caro on guitar.

Their songs often dealt with dark, uncomfortable subjects, delivered with a kind of theatrical sneer. They kept releasing albums through the early 1990s, including 'La Fábrica de Sueños' and 'El Baile de los Condenados.'

Their live shows were known for being confrontational, and the band's own behavior offstage sometimes fueled the criticism they received. By 1994, they had put out 'El Final de la Historia,' which turned out to be their last studio record. The music they made, raw, theatrical, and intentionally abrasive, still gets talked about, for better or worse.
