China Crisis formed in Liverpool in 1979, with Eddie Lundon on vocals and guitar, Gary Daly on bass, and Dave Reilly on drums. Their debut album 'Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms' came out in 1982 and included the single 'Christian.' The band's sound had a post-punk feel with some soul and jazz touches.
They released several albums through the 1980s, including 'Working with Fire & Steel' in 1983 and 'Flaunt the Imperfection' in 1985. Songs like 'Wishful Thinking' and 'African And White' showed their melodic, thoughtful approach. The band broke up in 1985 but reformed in 1997 with Lundon, Daly, and Reilly.
After reuniting, they put out albums like 'Another Wish' in 2001 and 'Autumn in the Neighbourhood' in 2009. Their 1990 album 'Diary of a Hollow Horse' gave them another song title that stuck around. They've kept working since, with a 2022 release called 'Some Happy, Some Sad.'
