Chocolate Riveros formed in Spain in 2003, with Enrique "Kike" García on vocals, Javier "Javi" García on guitar, Javier "Javi" Berrocal on bass, and Jose "Pepe" Marín on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year, and its lead single "Desencuentros" became a melancholic pop-rock track that connected with listeners. The band's early sound mixed pop, rock, and Latin influences.
After their second album "Momentos" in 2007, Berrocal left the group. They eventually found a replacement in Carlos "Carli" Álvarez and released "Tarde o Temprano" in 2010. In 2013, Kike García was arrested on drug possession charges, which created some uncertainty about the band's direction.
They returned with "Un Nuevo Amanecer" in 2015, followed by "Mil Historias por Contar" in 2019. The lineup has remained stable since Álvarez joined, with Kike and Javi García and Pepe Marín continuing as core members.
