An American guitarist whose late-80s band with vocalist Graham Bonnet defined his sound.
For the early sound, 'City's On Fire' is the one. If you want something from later, try 'The Writings On The Wall'.
That 1988 debut album with 'City's On Fire' became the calling card. It's built around Impellitteri's fast, technical playing, influenced by Ritchie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen. Later tracks like 'The Writings On The Wall' and 'Stand Or Fall' kept that style going through lineup changes.
He formed the band in the late 1980s with Graham Bonnet on vocals. After the debut, the group went through several vocalist changes and lineup shifts during the 1990s. Impellitteri kept recording with different musicians under his name, but that initial formation with Bonnet is what most fans remember.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
