A songwriter who found his own sound with 'Traveller' and kept it simple.
If you want to hear what all the fuss is about, start with 'Tennessee Whiskey'. For something quieter, try 'A Simple Song'.
When 'Tennessee Whiskey' landed in 2015, it felt like someone had finally turned the lights back on in a dusty old honky-tonk. That voice, a little rough, a little soulful, came straight from Lexington, Kentucky, where he grew up hearing traditional country and bluegrass. Songs like 'Maggie's Song' and 'Starting Over' prove he never needed to stray far from those straightforward roots.
His debut solo album 'Traveller' came out in 2015 and changed things. He followed that with two more albums, 'From a Room: Volume 1' and 'From a Room: Volume 2', often working with his wife Morgane Stapleton on backing vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
