Christian Delagrange

Christian Delagrange was born in Villefranche-de-Rouergue in 1950. He started playing guitar early, drawing from Gascon folk traditions. In 1976 he put out his first album, 'Les Bergers d'Occitanie,' which focused on rural life in his home region.

He moved to Paris as a young man and spent time in its music circles. His 1985 song 'C'est Une Femme Du Sud' became particularly well-known in Occitanie. Later albums included 'Les Jardins de la Mémoire' in 1998 and 'Les Routes du Sud' in 2002.

Delagrange's work often dealt with Occitan identity, which sometimes drew criticism. He kept writing and recording for decades, mostly staying with themes from southern France.
