Chuxx Morris

Chuxx Morris was a band that formed in the late 1970s, with Chuxx Morris on vocals and guitar, Henry Marquez on bass, and John Potter on drums. They released their debut single "Solomon Grundy" in 1989, an adaptation of the traditional nursery rhyme that became their most recognizable track. The song's haunting melody and Morris's distinctive vocal delivery gave it a particular resonance.

Beyond that single, the band put out albums like "The Dream of a Distant Shore" in 1991 and "The House of the Rising Sun" in 1994. Their sound incorporated folk and rock elements with an experimental edge, which sometimes drew criticism for being inaccessible. Other songs in their catalog include "Dead Man Walking," "Victorious," and "Lazy."

The lineup changed over time, with guitarists like Richard Thompson and Adrian Belew contributing at different points. Morris also collaborated with artists including Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush. The band's relatively brief activity left behind a small but distinct body of work anchored by "Solomon Grundy."
