Chuy Jr. came up singing in church and local festivals in Sabinas, Coahuila. He released his debut album 'Mi Viejo' in 1998, but it was the song 'Bello Pecado' that really connected with listeners. That track, along with others like 'Coraje' and 'La Sigo Extrañando,' helped establish his presence in Mexican music.
His brother Jorge was murdered in 2002, and that loss showed up in the albums that followed. 'El Amor de Mi Vida' came out that same year, and 'El Artista de la Canción' followed in 2005. He worked with musicians like accordion player Marco Antonio Silva, bassist Rodrigo de la Garza, and drummer Ramiro Cavazos.
He kept recording and performing, with a live album from Monterrey in 2007 and a 15-year anniversary collection in 2013.
