Chuy Vega came up in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he started playing guitar as a kid. In 1984, he put out a single called "Señora Señora" that caught on across Latin America. The song's direct lyrics about love and desire got some people talking, but it connected with plenty of listeners too.
He kept making records after that, putting out albums like Por Ella in 1985 and Corazón de Fuego in 1987. His band usually included Javier García on guitar, José Luis García on bass, and Alfonso de la Cruz on drums, with Vega handling vocals and guitar himself.
Later albums like La Cárcel de Cancún and El Sonido de mi Tierra came out in the early 1990s.
