Cidadão Saint

Cidadão Saint formed in Brasília in 1982 around lead vocalist Flávio Venturini, with guitarist Léo Ramos, bassist Mauro Motta, and drummer Wildy Vianna. Their music pulled from pop, rock, and folk, with Venturini's vocals and Ramos's guitar work giving it a particular texture. The lyrics often leaned toward faith and introspection.

In 1984 they released "Ao Deus Que Tudo Criou," which became something of a standard in Brazil, crossing over beyond strictly religious listeners. Other songs like "Barco Com Cristo" and "Quando Fraco de Faz Forte" followed a similar vein, direct, melodic statements about belief and patience.

The band put out several albums through the '80s and '90s, including O Encontro Marcado in 1986 and O Último Segredo in 1992. Venturini's views on faith and social matters sometimes drew criticism, and the group dealt with lineup shifts and money troubles along the way. They kept playing, though, and songs like "Tudo Bem Se Ele Me Quer Bem" and "Esperar Com Paciência" stayed in circulation.
