Archive material and source history
Cidade das Conchas formed in São Paulo in 2004 with Alexandre Massau on vocals, Rodrigo Rufino on guitar, Fábio Magrinelli on bass, and Daniel Pinheiro on drums. Their first album, 'Lugares,' came out in 2006, built around acoustic guitars and quiet harmonies.
Their second album, 'Nosso Melhor,' arrived in 2009 and included the song 'Deriva.' That track got some attention for its mood and lyrics, which gave the band a bit more visibility in Brazil.
In 2012, there was a plagiarism claim about one of their songs, 'O Tempo,' though it was later dropped. A few years after that, in 2015, drummer Daniel Pinheiro left the group. The band took some time off before starting up again.
